The animation system of Unity is called Mecanim and in Unreal it is called Persona. This option is not really supported in Unity.Īnimation: Imported characters can be animated (animation sequences) in Unity under the Animation Controller pane while in Unreal Engine these are provided under Animation Blueprints. In Unreal Engine, you are provided with animation editor which helps you in animating your character. However, a considerable segment of developers rate Unreal Engine better.Īssets: Both the engines use static meshes. For example, the transformation of objects in Unity is “Inspector” and in Unreal Engine it is under “Details”. UI Editors: Both the engines have a similar UI browser. Many companies utilized the Unreal Engine’s mobile game development services. Unreal Engine or Unreal Engine 4 is a suite that provides a comprehensive game development environment for developers. Though Unity Technologies is the goliath of the gaming industry, there are other equally good engines such as Unreal Engine from Epic Games. It also provides mobile game development services through its Unity Engine. Unity game development company is one such organization that provides a range of gaming solutions to aficionados. Unreal just feels like a proper game engine to me providing me all the tools I need, whereas I felt the opposite with unity. When it comes to gaming the game development companies strive to provide the best experience to users. and then it didnt work which I just found frustrating as hell. In unity afaik you had to find that script, drag it into the camera etc. I just didn’t get why we just didnt get a single volume or tab allowing us to set it nice and simple.

I didnt get why we had to install it from the asset store either.

For instance, for some reason I couldn’t get a basic thing like post process happen, despite of following docs and some tutorials.

Some people find it easy, I just found it frustrating. I just disliked the general UI and the way things worked.

I also love the possibilities with blueprints and found to have a less harder time actually making stuff come true than unity. I caught up with my engine knowledge in 2-3 days that took me maybe week or so in unity. However, also when it came to the general interface, I just found unreal less confusing. I was kinda annoyed by this as I expected, as unthankful as it may sound, game engines to ship certain stuff by default which unreal thankfully does. I found that most features I was looking for either had to be scripted yourself or conveniently bought from the asset store. I gave 1-2 month learning unity, mainly the lighting and scene creation but I just found it lacking all around. However as someone who has vague programming experience and comes more from a art/3d modeling background, I found unreal way easier to pick up than unity. Its not supposed to be a unity vs unreal discussion but I am constantly coming over people suggesting to use unity over unreal and I may get why(c++ and maybe disliking BPs).
